What is Bellmawr Baseball

Bellmawr Baseball is a volunteer-driven Little League organization dedicated to giving local kids the opportunity to learn, play, and grow through the game of baseball. Rooted in teamwork, sportsmanship, and community pride, we provide a fun and inclusive environment for players of all skill levels—from first-time T-ballers to experienced All-Stars. Our mission is to teach life lessons that extend beyond the field—commitment, confidence, and respect—while creating memories that last a lifetime. Whether you’re a player, parent, or fan, Bellmawr Baseball is where community comes together to celebrate America’s favorite pastime.

What ages can participate?
Players can begin playing for Bellmawr Baseball as young as 3 years old, if they will turn 4 by the end of August in that calendar year. Please view the Little League age chart for 2026 here: https://www.littleleague.org/downloads/2026-baseball-age-chart/

How are age groups determined?
Bellmawr Baseball is part of Little League, so we follow the Little League age chart, which can be found here for 2026: https://www.littleleague.org/downloads/2026-baseball-age-chart/

When does the season start and end?
Spring baseball typically begins in April and runs through early June. Playoffs can extend past June. Fall ball typically begins in late Auguest/early September and can run through early November.

Where are games and practices held?
Bellmawr Baseball fields and indoor batting cages are located on Essex Avenue, next to Bellmawr Park Elementary School. The majority of team practices will be held on these fields or indoors at the batting cages. Occassionally, due to scheduling conflicts, practices may be held at the Bellmawr Rec Center on Creek Road. All t-ball games are held at our home field. Coach pitch division and above will have games at our home field or at a neighboring town (e.g., Runnemede, Mt. Ephraim, Magnolia, etc.)

Who runs the league?
Bellmawr Baseball is led by a volunteer Board of Directors. Meet our Board of Directors here.

Registration & FEES

When does registration open and close?
Spring registration opens in late December/early January every year. It will close by the end of February. Fall registration opens in late June and will close by late July. Check our registration page for the latest information for the next upcoming season.

How do I register my child?
All registrations will be completed through SportsConnect. A link to our active registration site (if open) can be found on our Registration page.

What documents do I need to register?

A valid ID and proof of residency.

How much does it cost to play?
Registration fees will vary based on division and season. All registration fees will include a pre-determined volunteer fee per play or family (if multiple players) which will be refunded after completing mandatory volunteer hours.

Are payment plans or financial assistance available?

We never want cost to prevent a child from joining our league. If you are unable to register your child due to cost, please reach out to bellmawrbaseball@gmail.com to discuss alternative options.

Can we register if we live outside Bellmawr?
If your town does not offer a baseball program during one or more of our seasons, you may play for Bellmawr.

Can my child play up or down a division?
This varies by player and does not typically happen unless there are special circumstances. There are age restrictions that would require a child advance to the next division. On the contrary, if you sign your child up for a division and based on coach evaluations it is determined they are not ready for that level, we may recommend they are downgraded a division until they age out or improve. Similarly, it is not common for players to advance divisions unless specifically determined by the evaluation of coaches and requires league approval.

Divisions & Programs

What divisions are offered?
Bellmawr Baseball offers: T-ball, Coach Pitch, Minors, Majors, Juniors, Intermediate. We strive every season to secure sufficient registration for all divisions, however division availability is subject to minimum registration numbers.

How is placement determined?
All players will be subject to a skills assessment prior to the season starting. From there the coaches will draft a team based on skill level to ensure evenly skilled teams. T-ball is not included.

What is Fall Ball and how does it differ from Spring Ball?
Fall Ball is a more relaxed season with more opportunities for players of all skill levels. There are no playoffs in Fall Ball and it is typically a shorter season overall.

Are there winter clinics or training opportunities?
Bellmawr Baseball hosts free winter clinics and training opportunities. Information regarding these opportunities is typically available in November each year.

Do you offer softball or co-ed programs?
Bellmawr Baseball is not affiliated with Bellmawr Softball. However, girls are welcome to play in all our baseball divisions.

Teams, Practices, and Games

How are teams formed?
Teams are formed after the players complete a one-time skills assessment. Then the coaches draft players to teams. This does not include t-ball.

Can I request my child to be on a specific team or with other players?
We do accept requests, but no promises can be made.

When and how often are practices held?

Practice schedules are determined by your individual coach. T-ball teams do not typically have scheduled practices once games begin, but will host several weeks of practice leading up to Opening Day. All other divisions should expect at least 1 practice per week, if not more, in addition to scheduled games.

How long are games?
T-ball games typically last under 1 hour. All other age groups can last from 1.5 - 2 hours.

How many games are in a season?
T-ball will typically have 1 - 2 games per week over the course of a 6-8 week season. All other divisions should expect 2 - 3 games per week on average.

What if we can’t make every practice or game?
Every coach will have a different philosophy on how attendance affects playing time. It is important to be transparent with your child's coach on availability and restrictions. While coaches try to accommodate player schedules, it's not possible to cater to everyone. Each team will be given access to GameChanger for their schedule where you can update your child's availability for practices and games.

Equipment & Uniforms

What equipment does my child need?
All players will need a glove, batting helmet, bat, and cleats. T-ball bats may not be used in any division other than t-ball. All other divisions must use a USABat, per Little League rules. More information can be found here: https://www.littleleague.org/playing-rules/bat-information/

Does the league provide uniforms?
Spring registration includes the full uniform for all players, including jerseys, pants, socks, belts, and hats. Fall ball registration includes jerseys and hats. Your coach for Fall Ball will share what color pants, socks, and belts to purchase ahead of the season.

Where can I buy approved bats or helmets?
Most sporting goods stores such as Dicks will have the required equipment. You can also check out Play it Again Sports in Deptford for reduced-cost, gently used equipment.

Parent involvement

Do parents have to volunteer?
Registration fees will include a refundable volunteer fee. Parents who volunteer 1 shift at the snack stand will be refunded their volunteer fee. If you do not volunteer, the volunteer fee will not be refunded. Our snack stand is an integral part of our program and how we fundraise throughout the year to improve our program. It is essential that we have parent participation to keep the league thriving.

All money raised at the snack stand are also put directly back into the program.

Player Development & Safety

Are coaches trained and background checked?
All coaches and parents that will be on the field or in the dugout during games will be required to complete and pass a background check, per Little League guidelines. In addition, they are required to complete mandatory online training provided by Little League related to coaching and abuse awareness.

How does the league ensure player safety?
Bellmawr Baseball is very strict on player safety. We use fundraising dollars to make enhancements to our field to ensure player safety, including new Safety Bags on our fields at 1st base; a strict no bats in the dugout policy; ensuring player skill levels are appropriate for their respective division; and more. All coaches are equipped with first aid kits and ice packs for every practice and game. Our home field is equipped with AED and additional first aid equipment.

How do you handle player discipline or bullying?
Bullying and hazing are absolutely not tolerated by Bellmawr Baseball. As part of the mandatory coach's trainings provided by Little League, coaches are trained to prevent and detect instances of abuse of any kind, and strict actions and consequences will be implemented.

Is there equal playtime for all players?
The t-ball division has equal playing time for all players. All other divisions are require players to participate in 6 outs, or two innings, at a minimum. Spring baseball is more competitive, especially in the post-season, so playing time is not guaranteed or distributed equally. Fall ball is less competitive, and is an opportunity for coaches to allow players to try new positions and get more time in the field, assuming it is safe and appropriate for that player to do so. Playoffs are "play to win" and coaches will abide by mandatory minimum innings, but it is not guaranteed that all players will receive more than that.

Communication

How will I know if a game or practice is canceled?

Bellmawr Baseball utilizes the GameChanger app for practice or game cancellations or delays. Your coach will reach out as soon as possible when a game or practice needs to be adjusted.

How does the league communicate updates?

Download the GameChanger app and create an account using the same email you used when you registered your child(ren). You will automatically be added to the team roster for your player(s). All team-related updates will be communicated there. All league updates (such as registration deadlines, special events, etc.) will additionally be communicated via email and our Facebook page.
